Why Magnet Powered Generators Are the Future Here
Today
In the ever-expanding field of alternative energy, there are always new technologies being introduced that can
help you generate the power you need for your home. One of the latest systems that is generating a lot of interest
from homeowners and hobbyists alike is based on magnetic powered generators.
These magnetic powered generators promise to provide free electricity once the unit has been assembled, and the
best part is that they can be built from commonly available components for very little money.
These magnetic powered generators are based on the attraction that exists between opposite poles of a magnet and
they can exploit this phenomenon to generate free electricity. A basic working model can be built in about an
afternoon and will generate a good amount of electricity once it’s completed.
The basic technology consists of a disc that rotates on a shaft.
This disc is made of a non-magnetic material like plywood and has a series of magnets placed around its outer
edge at a set distance apart. These magnets all have the same polarity facing the outer edge of the disc and are
attached firmly to the disc. There is also another ring that is positioned a short distance from the inner portion
and surrounds this disc.
On this outer ring there are a corresponding set of magnets adhered with the opposite polarity aligned facing in
towards the disc. Because these the magnets on the disc and ring have opposite polarities, they will be attracted
to each other.
If the inside disc is started spinning, any one of the magnets will be attracted to the
closest magnet on the outer ring that it is approaching. As it gets closer it picks up speed and because of the
momentum of its rotation, it passes this magnet and is immediately attracted to the next magnet on the ring. As it
builds up speed approaching this magnet its momentum once again carries it past this magnet and the process
continues.
Because the disc is circular, this cycle of attraction will continue repeatedly and the disc will continue to
spin without the need for additional energy as long as the magnets retain their charge.
This spinning disc is attached to a shaft that is also being spun as this disc rotates through the magnets. This
shaft is connected to a generator that will produce an electrical current as the result of its turning, and this
power can be harnessed for use in your home.
What makes these magnetic powered generators so appealing is that they don’t require any external power source
and can even be installed indoors for protection from the elements. These magnetic powered generators can generate
a good amount of free electricity and if built large enough they can have a huge impact on lowering your monthly
electricity bill.
There are a number of sites that offer plans for the construction of one of these magnetic powered generators. Most
of the parts needed for the project can easily be found locally, or ordered from a number of online retailers.
